Over the years of being stressed with everything and constantly forgetting the items I’m juggling or when they have to be done, I have come up with some really easy but necessary ways to maintain order in my life. Here are 5 of my favorite tips and tricks…
Post-It to-do list: This is by far the best way to use a post-it! What you need to do is go to any grocery store, office supply store, or local convenient store and buy one of those long post it pads (vertically long). What I do is even get a couple different colors so I have one for school, one for work, one for working out, etc. This makes it totally simple to keep track of your to-do list, and since they are Post-Its they stick, making it easy to take for on the go use!
A journal: This step seems easy and that is because IT IS! Simply go get a journal, it can be fancy or one of those $.99 ones from Walmart and start with the date at the top of the first page. Now write EVERYTHING you are worried about in the journal on the days date! Think of this as your, “notes for the day.” These could include phone numbers that people tell you, dates that you need to put in your calendar, etc. Pro tip: You can even incorporate your Post-It to-do list in here by sticking the list inside the journal on the days date and making it a journal of to-do lists.
Create a shared family calendar on Apple Calendars: This is a LIFESAVER for people who are working around everyone else in their family’s schedule. All you need to do is go to iCloud in your settings and set up a “family.” Once the family is set up you will just simply check the box that says to share the “calendar.” After this is set up, anytime you post an event in your family calendar on your phone, iPad, computer, etc. the entire family will be notified. Think of this as the high-tech version of the old-fashioned family kitchen calendar.
Highlight: Highlight EVERYTHING. Buy a pack of different color highlighters and use them all. Make highlighting your favorite hobby. Once something is done the first thing you should do is highlight it so that you know you are done. You can also color code your journal as well by highlighting. If something is for the family highlight it in a different color than if something is for work. This is super important because it will help you to prioritize everything. There are not enough hours in the day to get absolutely everything done, so it is important to at least know which things in your life can wait until tomorrow.
Bring all of these tools with you at all times: This is probably THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP because something can’t be helpful to you if it is sitting on your desk at home. Having these tools with you are what makes the difference and helps you to be prepared for your busy day!
